A valuable additional therapy for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy.

What is HBOT?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) enables patients breathe almost pure oxygen in a pressurised chamber.

This higher pressure delivery of oxygen aids the blood’s ability to carry oxygen to the body’s tissues and organs.

Many medical diseases, including infections, and wound healing, can be treated using HBOT.

Research now suggests that HBOT may be a valuable adjunct therapy for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy. But it should not be used as a standalone treatment.

HBOT benefits on cancer patients include

  • lowering tumour development
  • increasing survival rates
  • improving the way chemotherapy medications are delivered
  • boosting immune systems

Please Note: Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy compliments conventional treatment, we do not recommend it as an alternative. If you are unsure, please consult your doctor.

HBOT Benefits on Cancer Explained

Recent studies have revealed that the delivery of almost pure oxygen to the bloodstream, whilst in a pressurised chamber, may enhance the efficacy of radiation and chemotherapy for cancer patients.

HBOT Benefits on Cancer – The research

A 2021 research article that appeared in the journal Scientific Reports examined HBOT as a potential therapy for cancer in mice.

HBOT was found to greatly boost survival rates and considerably reduce tumour development in mice with breast cancer.

The study also discovered that HBOT has the power to raise the oxygen levels in the tumour microenvironment.

This means that chemotherapy medications were able to penetrate tumour cells more efficiently.

The cancer cells also become more vulnerable to radiation therapy as a result of raising the body’s oxygen level.

HBOT Benefits on Cancer Patients

The study suggests that HBOT may be a valuable additional therapy for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy.

By improving oxygenation in the tumour microenvironment, HBOT can enhance the effectiveness of these treatments.

This can potentially reduce the need for more invasive interventions, such as surgery.

Additionally, HBOT has minimal side effects and can safely be used in conjunction with other cancer treatments and therapies.

While more research is needed to fully understand HBOT benefits on cancer patients, the existing evidence suggests that it is a promising therapy that can be used now.
