Gateshead branch now open!

There are two parts to Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Increased purity of oxygen and higher than normal pressure

The air we normally breathe contains 21% oxygen, 78% nitrogen, with the remaining 1% being contributed by the noble gases and carbon dioxide. However, in HbOT you breathe 95% pure oxygen.

Our chamber is pressurised to 1.45 Bar, which is almost one and a half times the pressure we normally experience in our everyday lives.

The unique HbOT combination of pure oxygen at high pressure has a revitalising effect. Better still these benefits involve no drugs and are non-intrusive.

How does breathing more oxygen help?

However, increasing the pressure surrounding a client in a hyperbaric chamber and using 95% oxygen allows a significant increase in the amount of oxygen dissolved in the bloodstream. This ‘enriched blood’ is carried to the 15 Trillion cells in their body even those with blocked or reduced blood flow can benefit.

The air that we breathe every day provides enough oxygen for both normal body metabolism and repair to tissue damage after injury or illness.

The improvements we have seen in clients in our centres are little short of miraculous. It makes Oxify an exhilarating place to work!

This increased flow of oxygen stimulates and restores function to damaged cells and organs including those in the liver and brain. It also significantly enhances the body’s ability to heal.

What happens in a session?

HbOT at Oxify is a very pleasurable experience. After you have entered your dedicated chamber, fully clothed with an oxygen mask placed over your nose and mouth, the pressure is gradually increased by an Oxify team member. The speed of pressure increase is carefully monitored and controlled. During your session you can read, listen to music or watch a movie. You are monitored throughout to ensure you are happy and at ease.

Your consultation will consist of an initial chat with a member of the Oxify team to understand your current concerns and assess whether the therapy would be beneficial for you.

During the consultation, you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the therapy. We will then go through what the therapy involves. Finally, if we believe the therapy would be suitable for you, you will be able to have a taste of what the therapy feels like.

The session lasts for 60 minutes, while the chamber will take around 3 minutes to reach the correct pressure. During this time you may feel a bit of discomfort in your ears similar to what you experience when you are going up in an air plane.

There will be someone outside the chamber the whole time the pressure is being increased and decreased at the end of the session. It is completely at your pace so you feel comfortable the whole time. Once the chamber is at pressure, sit back and relax!

It is suggested you come to your session in comfortable clothing, you are also welcome to bring a blanket or warm clothing with you as it can sometimes feel cold when in the chamber.

It is recommended that you have a drink of water before entering the chamber and use the bathroom as you will be in there for 60 minutes.

Bring with you anything you would like to keep you entertained for an hour, this could be a book, puzzle book or a mobile device to listen to music, watch a show or check emails etc.

Immediately after your Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy session you may feel a little out of sorts for the first few minutes. This happens because your body is adjusting to regular air and the changing air pressure. Once the body re-adjusts you will feel great. Your body will also be able to take in more oxygen for up to 8 hours after your session.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy has a cumulative effect, you will start to see noticeable differences after 3 or 4 sessions.

The chamber is manually operated so in the unlikely event the session needs to be ended early, one of our trained team members will be able to release the pressure and bring you out within a couple of minutes.
